Dr. Deborah Sema is a native of the Mobile area and has been helping create beautiful smiles with braces and Invisalign® since 1998. She is a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile and received her dental degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1994. She remained at UAB for an additional four years to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry and her orthodontic residency. She received her Master’s degree in Orthodontics in 1998 and began practicing in Birmingham. She is honored to also now be a part of the Luma Dentistry team and loves the time she gets to spend with patients and team members. The McCalla community reminds her of her home in South Alabama, where she is surrounded by “just good people!”

Dr. Sema is committed to her patients and her profession. She chose to pursue board certification with the American Board of Orthodontics. She was recently inducted into the International College of Dentists. She has also served in many leadership roles in her professional organizations. She is past president of the Alabama Orthodontic Alumni Foundation and currently serves as President of the Birmingham District Dental Society and Secretary-Treasurer of the Southern Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Sema enjoys seeing her patients in McCalla and Homewood and being involved with them in the community through the support of their schools and community events. She serves on various boards and community organizations with the Rotary Club, the Safe and Healthy Homewood Coalition, and Open Hands Overflowing Hearts. When not in the office, Dr. Sema enjoys traveling, sports, reading, and spending time with friends and family at Smith Lake.
