I have gone from being petrified about going to the dentist to looking forward to my visits.

As a child, I experienced a traumatic visit to the dentist’s office. As a teenager and an adult, I’ve feared the dental chair.

Luma Dentistry is completely different. The facilities are very modern, cordial and inviting. The entire staff have made my visits more relaxed, and my dentists have exhibited concern and care for my comfort to the highest extent.

I decided to straighten my teeth with Invisalign because I was having multiple problems with my gums, teeth getting loose, and bone loss. My periodontist and Dr. Gray recommended that I do it for that reason.

I’m now halfway through my Invisalign treatment, and the last time I went to see my periodontist he was dancing! I had one of my best checkups ever. On my last hygiene appointment, Dr. Gray and my hygienist were also really pleased.

I also love the way that Invisalign is changing my looks. I never used to smile with my mouth open. I smile differently now, and I’m only halfway there! I’m not so self-conscious any more about my crooked teeth. They have moved so quickly for someone my age. It has been very fast.

I’m looking forward now to finishing my Invisalign treatment, as I am going to get an implant for a tooth that I lost, and get my teeth whitened.

I was getting ready to compete in the Miss Teen Alabama Pageant and Luma Dentistry helped me perfect my smile.

Luma Dentistry was amazing. They made sure I knew what was going on at all times. The treatment I had went a lot faster than I thought it would. All the staff are very helpful and friendly and the office is very comfortable and relaxing.

With my new smile I had a lot more confidence and I placed third in the pageant!

It started when I fell off my bike onto my tooth and the trauma must have caused a slow infection. Eventually I had to get a root canal but that actually made it worse. Finally, a friend referred me to Luma Dentistry.

What had happened was that at my previous dentist they had only taken X-rays from the side and so couldn’t see the extent of the damage and what was really happening.

I have never been a big fan of going to the dentist, but they made it a very comfortable and easy process, so when it was done I was very satisfied with the end result. Dr. Gray saved my tooth and the future health of my teeth.

I have had a couple of crowns done in the past at other offices, and I was told that the new crown might feel strange for a few days and that I would get used to it. With this procedure, my crown felt immediately like my original tooth!

What’s more, after the procedure was over, the ‘feeling’ immediately returned to my mouth and I did not have to take aspirin to get rid of the long-term, unpleasant side effects of anesthesia that I have always experienced in the past.

In short, I could not be more pleased with the entire process from start to finish.

The oral surgery that was performed was very professional and state of the art procedures were used. My doctor gave me follow up calls even on the weekends to check on my progress.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wendy’s since she first took over the practices of retiring doctors Phillips and Pate. I admit, I was nervous about a young new dentist since I had been with Dr. Phillips since I was 16. He had been my dentist for 46 years!

After he retired and I met Dr. Wendy, she won my confidence immediately with her warm smile, confident ways and her consideration and compassion for her patients. Her office staff as well as co-dentists are all friendly, competent and professional.

I had used the same dentist for 25 years. When he retired, I went through 4 dental offices, and was not comfortable with any of them. Finally, in February of 2009, I found Luma Dentistry.

They are so professional, and always concerned for their patients’ comfort and making sure we are happy with the way our smile looks.

You never have to wait long for an appointment. As a matter of fact, two of the doctors even met me at the office on a Saturday afternoon to repair a broken tooth.

Not only are they all wonderful dentists, they also give back in amazing ways to our community by donating services to help make money to restore historic sites. They give away dental services to people in the community from time to time. They care about their patients, their staff and their community.

I love my dentists! And their dentistry is pain free.

I moved to McCalla about 3 years ago, and my husband introduced me to Luma Dentistry. I would call my experience with them perfect.

Everyone here is knowledgeable, friendly, passionate about what they do and down to earth. From the moment that you call, you get a warm, friendly voice. You feel like they really do care about you and will take care of you.

I’ve had general checkups, teeth cleaning, and preventive care. The dentists are great and really explain things well, and the hygienist was gentle and thorough.

I suffered bone loss from an old injury. My teeth were loose, and I had trouble eating a lot foods.

I came to Luma Dentistry and worked out a treatment plan that made me really happy. I decided to go with four dental implants in the front. Dr. Gray did the necessary extractions, the bone grafting and installed the posts. Dr. John put the crowns on.

It was just amazing the difference. I used to smile without showing my teeth. Now I don’t hesitate to smile. I have more confidence now for my job. I deal with a lot of wealthy clients, and I feel more self-confident now when I work with them.

I really appreciate that they set me up with Care Credit for financing. I could never have afforded to pay for it all up front, and I wound up with an easy payment plan.

The doctors and staff here have been great the whole time. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They took a long tedious experience and made it as smooth as they could. It has been a great experience.

Growing up, I was always ashamed of my teeth. As a young pre-teen, I damaged my front teeth in an accident, which caused them to darken. When I had the urge to smile, I did it in a way to hide my teeth as much as possible.

As I grew older, I had a few crowns put on my front teeth, but they were put on at different times and were never the same color. They were also beginning to pull away from my gums and metal was starting to show at the top of my crowns. This caused me to start hiding my smile again.

About 2 years ago, I started going to Luma Dentistry. They helped me work out a plan to replace my existing crowns with all porcelain crowns. They are perfect, and I’m smiling so much these days, my face sometimes hurts. Luma Dentistry helped me smile again!

I am so glad Luma Dentistry is part of my life now.

Some patients would prefer to endure the agony of a toothache, rather than seek treatment. I feel confident when I come to this office that I will be listened to, and that I will get the best possible dental care.

I am a victim of bad dentistry. I let someone put in veneers, and they came off and there was nothing under the veneers as every tooth was rotten. My teeth were destroyed by normal stomach acid.

A colleague looked at my mouth, and recommended that I see a prosthodontist.

I chose Dr. Gray for several reasons. First, he has had wonderful training. Something that makes him stand out amongst prosthodontists is that he is recently trained, and remains affiliated with the University. Because he teaches there and interacts with the faculty, he keeps up with the literature is familiar with all of the new developments in prosthodontics and can take advantage of this.

Secondly, Dr. Gray understands that dental treatment works best when it is approached as a partnership between the dentist and the patient. He has been very willing to listen to my ideas, and discuss treatment options that I have read about. He has researched the options, and discussed the pros and cons with me.

Our plan is to work out what we are going to do in what sequence, and according to my budget. In this manner we have worked out a treatment plan that I feel confident about and that I am very happy with.

I am going to need four dental implants and fixed bridges. He has already done the extractions and the necessary bone grafts. The work has been excellent.

I feel confident when I come to this office that I will be listened to, and that I will get the best possible dental care. With a prosthodontist and three other dentists with advanced training, they have an excellent multi-disciplinary practice. And the facilities speak for themselves—brand new, spacious and the space plan is comfortable and homey. I feel comfortable here, and I think you will too.

When I think of Dental Care for myself, I think of Dr. Holt Gray.

I have crowns from the Gray Father-Son Team in my mouth. Dr. Holt Gray was our Dental Student, our Prosthodontic Resident, and our Colleague on the Dental School Faculty at UAB. In each situation Holt displayed his usual calm dedicated hardworking mannerism that enables him to be outstanding amongst his peers.

One cannot mention Holt without thinking of his father, Jordan Gray, who is the owner of Gray Dental Laboratory. During my 20 years with the UAB Graduate Prosthodontic Programs, all Crown, Bridge and Implant Laboratory Procedures were provided by Gray Dental Laboratory. His support for our Full Mouth Rehabilitation patients is especially noteworthy, providing technically outstanding appliances with magnificent esthetic results.

Dr. Gray has assembled an excellent group of Colleagues at Luma Dentistry. I am proud to say that I have had a part in the education of each one.
