Digital X-Rays
Ask anyone on the Luma Dentistry team, and we’ll tell you how much we truly love and appreciate all things dental technology. This is because as the years go by, we’re continually impressed with the improvements being made to treatments and tools, starting with dental x-rays. What does that mean for you, our valued patients? Care is more comfortable, pain-free, while also being less time-consuming.
How Do Digital X-Rays Work?
Remember those old dental x-rays from the past where you had to wait for the film to develop, and the results were difficult to decipher? They also were known for exposing patients to heightened levels of radiation. Today’s digital radiography uses an estimated 40-90 percent less radiation than conventional film x-rays. Digital x-rays use a digital image capture device in place of traditional film, sending an image immediately to our computers. The result is a highly-detailed image of the mouth, and its contrast and resolution can be enhanced to more easily diagnose dental problems and determine the very best treatment for each case. This means more safety and better accuracy for you and your family.
Why Trust Digital X-Rays?
There are so many remarkable reasons digital dental x-rays have changed the way we can care for and treat our patients, including:
- Easier dental appointments because less prep time is required
- Access to higher quality dental imaging for a better look at oral health
- Transferring dental records can be done easily and immediately
- Being more environmentally friendly without using harsh chemicals
- Having the ability to receive the best diagnosis possible
Since traditional film x-rays date back to 1895, we think it’s a good thing that their digital counterpart has become the new norm. Technology has advanced and improved the way we take care of you and your smile. Questions? Ask us anything at your next appointment.
