Bone Preservation

At Luma Dentistry, we strive to preserve and protect your natural teeth as much as possible. The same can be said for your jaw bone. Bone preservation is important to maintaining a healthy quality of life at any age. It can also help prepare you for effective dental implant treatment.

Central Alabama Bone Preservation

In advance of dental implant placement, some patients require a procedure your Luma dentist will refer to as bone preservation. As you know, we have extremely skilled dentists and specialists like a periodontist who offer a unique, collaborative approach to your smile care. This makes bone preservation possible for more patients like you than ever before.

What Are Some Benefits of Bone Preservation?

Preserving your natural jawbone is important to maintaining a healthy quality of life. Without adequate jaw structure, chewing can become impossible, and your facial appearance becomes diminished. At Luma Dentistry, we want to help you avoid these tough situations. By quickly and effectively filling the root area when a tooth is lost, patients are able to:

  • Keep options open
  • Increase their chances of implant success
  • Have a bright future of dental health

It’s a win-win situation for your oral and overall health.

Why Do We Recommend Bone Preservation?

Most times when you lose a tooth, for whatever reason, the gum and bone that make up the socket where it once was attached start to rapidly break down. This is because your tooth roots would keep the bone stimulated and healthy. When your tooth comes out or is extracted, we must begin the steps for the bone preservation process to protect the socket and surrounding tissue to support future dental work and prevent any additional tooth loss.

Bone or ridge preservation can occur immediately after your tooth is removed, when we fill the empty pocket with a safe, biocompatible material. All this does take some time to heal before we can move forward with a dental implant or other restoration.

All of this sounds more complicated than it really is — we promise. If you’re in need of a surgical procedure like this one or something else to improve your oral health, call on the talented, compassionate team at Luma Dentistry.

We Accept Most Insurances

We believe that everyone should have access to affordable dental care. That’s why we accept most insurances, offer third-party financing, and have our own discount dental plan for those without insurance.
