Matthew Litz, DMD, Periodontist
Dr. Litz grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended Auburn University and received a nursing degree in 1997. After practicing for several years as a critical care RN, he then obtained his DDS degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 2004 and completed a three-year specialty residency program in Periodontics at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2007. Additionally, he trained at the VA Hospital in Birmingham.
Dr. Litz is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and is Board Certified through the American Board of Periodontology holding Diplomate status. He is past President of both the Alabama Society of Periodontists and the Birmingham District Dental Society. He currently holds a position as Clinical Associate Professor at the UAB School of Dentistry where he teaches in the Department of Periodontics. He also serves as an examiner with the state board on the anesthesia inspection and credentialing committee.
Dr. Litz married his wife Ashley in 2003, and they became proud parents of a baby boy named Sebastian in 2015. Dr. Litz enjoys tennis, photography, running and is currently training for the 2018 Chicago Marathon.
